Our band does "Live with me" as part of our list for years. We are mainly original, but that song rocks. Keith on Bass.
It has always been a strange one though because they were in the in-between phase. It's like an album with "outtakes", but they aren't outtakes. It is one of my favorites too.

It is a pretty good one too. When I listen to it, it takes me back to when it came out. I get too much of a memory rush, but I put it on now and again to remember what it was like to not have bills..LOL.

Did they re-release that with any bonus material? I always figured that should have been a double record. It just seems too short.

16. They released a remastered version, but the track listing is....

...the same as the vinyl. The sound quality is better, though, and you get a much better mix.

Still worth every penny. The Stones were at their peak, and Mick Taylor was grooving on the leads.

Easily the finest lead player the Stones ever had. His silky tone and fluid style added so much texture to the band's sound. "Time Waits For No One" and "Can't You Hear Me Knockin'" are just exquisite solos.

Get the re-release of 'Gimme Shelter' on DVD. It has some astonishing extras on it, especially the live film version of 'Little Queenie'. There's a bit with Keith in the studio mixing 'Oh Carol' that's great too; the cameraman gets in his way - Keith gets REALLY pissed off.

Oh edit: I don't have a favorite Stones' album, really; it's all a mood thing. I happen to love 'Steel Wheels' & 'Voodoo Lounge', too. But I acknowledge the Gold Streak: 'Beggars Banquet', 'Let It Bleed', 'Sticky Fingers' and 'Exile On Main Street'. The only Stones' album I have a problem with is 'Black & Blue'; I utterly loathe 'Hot Stuff'.

I haven't seen the movie in a long time, but it is a classic. The extra footage would be great to see.
I really don't have a "favorite" one either. I was just thinking of this album when I posted. It is one of my favorites, but like you, it's a mood thing.

Another great one. I haven't put the Stones on for a while, I just thought I would start this thread. But now I want to go home and pull out some of their stuff and listen for a while. Under My Thumb has always been one of my top Rolling Stones records. Good choice.

As far as "official" albums go, anyway.

If we open up the competition to bootlegs, I'd have to go with "Brussels Affair (definitive edition)". It's a great live album from 1973 which should have been official, but for whatever reason never was. Royalty disputes with former manager Allen Klein was the most likely reason.

It's amazing how much damage one turtlenecked moron did to the two greatest bands in history (Klein also managed the Beatles in their final year or so)
