I really hated that the poor little creature was referred to as a "thing" in the original story by the "owner" and I think, even the vet...

it's probably a good thing, she would not have had a good life, and maybe would have had a lot of medical problems.

A very big, generous soul.

I remember some years ago reading a vignette on a little kitten who asked god about what it was like to be born and loved, and god implanted his soul into a kitten being born so he could understand what it was like to be loved and held. And the kitten got to experience life for a very short time, and then god called him back to heaven again, and he died and returned to god's side. And he told god how wonderful it felt, even though he knew it was for a short time. Very sad, but very beautiful. That's what this poor little kitten reminds me of.
