Good Places To Eat Around Coney Island, HELP!
going to the Mermaid Parade tomorrow at Coney Island.

Anyone from Brooklyn with advice on where to eat?

Nathan's hotdogs won't cut it.

1. Look for the restrooms, then the restaurants

Umm...that's a tough one, there are a lot of ptomaine palaces around there.

You have a couple of choices:

Do a Google of Brighton Beach restaurants and find a good Russian restaurant there. (Last year, several of my flamboyant friends titillated the regulars at a diner near Brighton Beach.)

There's an okay (not great) Italian restaurant named Gargiulo’s near where the parade will be. It's a little pricey for what you will get, but it beats Nathan's and all the other bacteria farms in CI.

Keyspan Park has a pretty big pub with outdoor tables (at least during Cyclones games) that serves decent burgers and salads. Usually the crowd there is pretty conservative, but during the Mermaid Parade Coney Island will be invaded by artistes who should make everything look interesting. The pub, if it's open, also has restrooms, which are scarce in Coney Island.

(Edited again: Gargiulo’s has a dress code and doesn't allow shorts. The pub or a walk up the boardwalk to Brighton Beach will be your best bet.)
