Redwood country, Northern California, whose been there?

I have not been there in the last few years, but I still have dreams of the beauty and calm it instills on my soul. Hum bolt, Mendocino counties, ocean, forests, mountains, nature.

got up there once - very calming.

And when on more limited time - I did the backroads from Palo Alto to Pescadaro - shorter distance of peaceful area - but still very peace instilling.

Redwoods National Park is magical.

5. Been to Sequia(sp) National Forest and Yosemite...

but the most beautiful place I've seen redwoods is near Big Sur off Highway 1....spectacular...Redwoods,Mountains, and Ocean all together...breathtaking.

I am self employed and probably could move my business any where. My dream has been to live "up north".

Marin, Sonoma, Mendocino, and Humboldt Counties are all great places to live.

Wonderful little towns that they are. Or were in the 1980s, when I was there.

11. I spend a lot of time in Arcata.

My son and I do a lot of fishing on the Mad river near Arcata.

I'm never reserved in Arcata or Eureka. Im usually one of those people that get all paranoid when my friends are being boisterous.. shhh.. someone will hear you! No no no.. dont climb that tree! What do you mean you want to lay in the grass? Its the middle of a public square! No, I will not do a drum circle right here on the corner.. Everyone is gonna know there is hippie crack in that balloon, you fool :)


We, until a year ago, were very frequent visitors to the Humbolt county area. Fond memories. Cant wait to get back.

went with my family to San Francisco three summers ago, and went to see the redwoods one afternoon.

It was gorgeous, but SO windy (the "around and around and around" windy, not the blustery windy) going all the way down the valley. I never get any sort of motion sickness, and I was feeling a little queasy. My parents said the semi-precarious narrow roads made them feel like they were back on their honeymoon in Scotland. :)

Excellent driving if you have a motorcycle or a small car. Not so fun with a larger vehicle. Suicidal with an RV or a trailer.

20. I visit there frequently

However, I live at the southern end of the redwood zone, in Santa Cruz county. We have 10 acres of mixed redwoods, oaks, and madrones, all wild except for a little patch behind the house where we have a pond and cultivated gardens.

All it took was a single visit once, in '96, on a business trip and within 14 months I'd moved here.
