But it doesn't really drive me crazy. It just makes me "wander" about these people.

7. No, it is usually "their" instead of "there.".

Makes me want to scream. I'm a copy editor, so errors like that drive me absolutely crazy, but I try to be polite, so I don't correct them. But I wonder how some people ever got through high school English. Also, the misuse of it's and its is another pet peeve.

6. Here's one I hear in the South -- "ValenTIME's Day" instead of
"Valentine's Day."

These people truly never, ever pick up a book or even read a calendar page.

23. What about "Feb-YOU-ary" instead of "Fe-BRU-ary?"
This has been in usage so much that my dictionary now
lists it as an alternative pronunciation!!

And the word "hopefully" is often misused. It means
"in a hopeful manner," not "I hope."

WRONG
Hopefully, it won't rain tonight.

RIGHT
She opened the letter hopefully.

But, since our language is constantly evolving, these
things are probably no longer considered ungrammatical.

10. It's a motherfucker. I'm actually beginning to find the use of "loose"
for "lose" a little endearing, given the ubiquity of this mistake here at DU.

And my all time favorite is people (and there are a few of them) who spell "fuckin'" improperly as "fuckan."
