Books: The DaVinci Code and Holy Blood, Holy Grail.

Who's read them? I'd like to read them, but I want to know that the money I might spend on these books isn't a waste. Also, suggest any other Christian conspiracy books that might be a good read. :D

2. I've read HB/HG

It's a lot of fun. Highly questionable, of course, but still fun to play with.

DaVinci Code I have, but haven't gotten around to reading. It's on the bottom of a huge stack of "to read" books.

4. I still haven't read Bill Clinton's biography!

But some of the specialty channels on TV have been discussion The DaVinci Code and HB,HG. I'm really wanting to get into those.

They are pretty fun to read. You should be able to track them down at paper back trade stores on the cheap.

6. I read the DaVinci Code and Started HB/HG

The DaVinci Code is gripping and exciting. It's listed as fiction, but is based on rumors laid out from HB/HG. There is a tremendous following and it remains a best seller. I understand why. It's thought provoking and many claims in it make a lot of sense.

7. DaVinci Code is a romping fun read. You should be able to

find it in a used book store somewhere. There are always folks who buy books like this thinking it is going to reinforce their own philosophy and find them threatening instead and the books end up at the used book store.

Or you ought to be able to get it from the Library without having to wait for it ..it is a fast read.

8. I read the Da Vinci code

read the whole thing on a plane. It was interesting and fun, even without buying the premise.

9. Read both,

if for no other reason than as a pop culture reference. I liked them both pretty well (DaVinci Code was a page turner for me), but I've heard mixed reviews from others. Don't know if you want to necessarily invest $25 on a hardcover copy of *any* book, but I would definitely get my hands on a copy of each book. :)

As for Christian conspiracy book, another historical fiction book I konw if is "Pope Joan," by Donna Cross. The title's pretty self-explanatory as to the plot of the book.

ETA: And, of course, when talking about recommendations, the prequel to the DaVinci Code, Angles and Demons, is always good. That is, if you like DVC.

10. The DaVinci Code was a very interesting read.

James Morrow writes books that I guess would be called religious satire. I'm reading Only Begotten Daughter right now. Some of his other good ones are Bible Stories for Adults and Towing Jehovah.

11. Da Vinci Code was entertaining

but it reads like a movie script. You might try "Angel's & Demon's" by Dan Brown as well. That is essentially the same book but set in the Vatican with the Illuminati cast as the bads guys. Are you looking for fiction or non-fiction? Because there are plenty of "Christian Conspiracy" books out there. Pick up any book that has to do with the Knights Templars(todays Freemasons) or the Knights Hospitallers(Knights of Malta).

12. I read the Da Vinci Code recently and thought it was great.

Quick, easy read, but very interesting. I burned through it in about 2.5 days.

14. friends of the library is a great resource

Books are usually about 50 cent to a dollar.

All of the Dan Brown books were great.

Because I am a book worm and a libral, I confess to reading the Left Behind series. I read this over the course of the election. My timing was a poor choice. The craziness of real life compounded with the craziness of the books and I had some of the worst dreams I have had in years. Although I do recommend the series. I am NOT christian.

15. I read Holy Blood Holy Grail years ago.

It was an entertaining read.

I'd suggest studying myth, legend & comparative religion. Christianity is a combination of several strains of belief and/or philosopies. Some of the background may have been "hidden"--but most is just unknown to those who haven't read in those areas.

16. Thought the Da Vinci Code was an awful book

It was so badly written it was a struggle keep going. People talk in CAPITALS when it's important and slip into italics when they're doing somthing exciting. Sadly, it never is. An awful, awful book. You may laugh quite often though (especially when you're supposed to be impressed).
