Boxing is such a joke
Edited on Sun Jun-26-05 05:00 PM by matcom
just watching my local sports and they had highlights of last nights (?) fight between (whothefuckcaresanymore)

anyhoo one guy beat the other guy but that isn't important now.

what made me LMAO was one guy had flames behind him as they announced his name and the OTHER guy (the guy who won) came into the arena like some Egyptian King carried on a THRONE by 4 dudes dressed as Egyptian servants. :eyes:

soooooooooooooo.... the question i have is: what is more rediculous: Boxing or Britney Spears? :D

3. erm...I boxed as a youth
I accept the argument that it is brutal and it might cause those who don't follow the "sport" (sic) to look at the participants as morons. However, I have an honours degree and two postgrad qualifications so I am not exactly dim.

From what you have described, it seems that this is a very American phenomenon similar to the overblown charades that accompany your election rallies and other mass audience events. It sounds silly and probably looked silly too.

If I had a son I'm not sure if I'd be happy at him boxing though. In retrospect it is controlled violence and I don't like violence of any sort, my own experiences in the amateur ring notwithstanding.
