It'll do in a pinch.
But also check your seafood department of you local big grocer. They have shrimp called "salad shrimp" and they're the same thing, only not packed in the brine water that the Chicken of the Sea Shrimp is packed in. And the Salad Shrimp is really great in gumbo and other dishes in which you need to add shrimp.
