Just watched "Secondhand Lions".

And I have to say, I'm completely shocked at how good the movie was! (Yeah, it's been out for awhile, but I just not got it on NetFlix). Hayley Joel Osment is going to be such a heartbreaker when he's older! Michael Caine and Robert Duvall did an excellent mix of quirky and emotional. Overall, wonderfully surprising movie. Definitely worth the rental!

3. Yep. Not too many of these out there.

The Milagro Beanfield War comes to mind. Not mainstream, not art film. Just good. Crimes of the Heart maybe. Accidental Tourist a while ago.

It's hard to avoid ALL the sentimental traps AND still get a response like that. I wonder if it made a dime.

Domestic Total Gross: $42,070,939

Production Budget: $30 million
Est. Marketing Costs: $20 million

So no, it looks like it never made a dime. But rentals like yours from Netflix probably make up the difference.

Michael Moore's movie got me started on this site. I watched the receipts keep going up up up. His next movie on the pharmaceutical industry should be great too.

There are so many movies out there that completely suck yet do so well. And then you have ones like this that don't get hyped too much (and are actually good) and flop.
