4. well
XV = 15, (X-bar)(V-bar) = 15,000

there would be a bar over the X and a bar over the V

5. 15,000
4. A bar placed on top of a letter or string of letters increases the numeral's value by 1,000 times.

XV = 15, (X-bar)(V-bar)= 15,000

7. Roman numerals per se stop at 1,000.
Edited on Tue Jun-28-05 12:26 AM by Davis_X_Machina
Ten thousand is an M with a bar over it. One of those, for which there is no HTML or ASCII version, plus 5 regular M's, I reckon...

More likely, for big numbers, the Romans would have used words: quindecim milia.

but I haven't bought any more, so I'm still listening to Kite & Tropical Brainstorm.

Tonight I have the pc playing random songs, and it seems to be playing a lot of Commander Cody the past twenty minutes or so.

That's really the setting I like best. The music goes all over the place in terms of genre.

From Commander Cody (Don't let Go) to the Clash (Hateful) as I type this. And James Brown up next.

:woohoo:

edit: I remembered I bought Joe Jackson's Afterlife cd over the weekend. So now I'm giving it a first listen.

24. I once calculated how long it would take me to reach 10,000 posts,
given that I post at the same rate that I have over the past year. At my current rate, I should reach 10,000 in March of 2015. 15,000 in seven months is quite an achievement! :yourock:
