Lightening strike! HA HA HA!

Sitting here about 20 minutes ago as T storms were coming in. My 3 doggies were sitting by my side all attention on me as good Kansas dogs are trained to do when T Storms come in. All of a sudden I felt the hair on the back of my neck stand on end and I knew what was coming. I looked at my dogs and all three looked like cartoons, the whites of their eyes showing then Flash...Crack it hit a tree outside the house. They all three launched on top of me knocking my laptop to the floor. It has to have been the funniest thing I have ever seen.

OK, more lightening, closing in with another front I guess. Gonna turn things off here this time before that happens again.

Seriously, they looked like cartoons. LOL

5. It was so funny!

Usually they don't get so worked up but this was HUGE! We have been hit before. This wasn't even the same as that but it was a crack rather than a boom and it certainly spooked us all. Poor puppies. :hi:

I lost TWO computers from lightening strikes via the phone lines. TWO. Unplugged everything, but forgot to pull the phone, and we live on one of the highest points in the area.

Once is bad luck, twice is pure stupidity.

I wish I could see video of those "brave" hounds of yours....

6. We got hit twice a couple of summers ago.

Like you we are on top of the second highest point in the county. Really screwed up everything. At least this was not the house but it was every bit as loud. My husband was about 6 miles away headed home and he saw it and called because he was certain it had hit us. He said it was the biggest lightening bolt he had ever seen. There have been a lot of those lately.

It was a scene I will chuckle about for a long time. My littlest dog looked like a fuzz ball, all her hair stood on end and then her eyes all bugged. LOL, it was hysterical.

7. Well howdy!

They are all training on us and that never seems to happen to us here. My farm, 10 miles away, is dry as a bone. The heat has been extreme hasn't it? We finally got our air conditioner fixed yesterday. Tomorrow night I have to play outside in Lawrence and the temps are supposed to be in the low 100's. With this added humidity it is going to be miserable.

Thanks, it was out of self defense that I cut my hair, I get too sweaty playing outside and this is much easier to deal with.

9. I'd like to make one of the concerts before I leave here.

I'm at the mercy of the realtors right now, juggling my dog out of the house everytime they set up a showing (usually with 10 minutes notice!). I check in here whenever I can. Next week, it's house hunting, Texas-style. I'm getting too old for this!

Been there and getting ready to do it again in the next year. At least my move is only 10 miles away! I feel for you, especially having to deal when it gets so darned hot out.

14. Wet, hot and HUMID!

It is actually nice right now since the rain is still on but tomorrow? GAHHHHHH! Low 100's after over an inch of rain today. I gotta play a concert outside so I am worried about that. Everything else, well I had not heard about the energy bill since I turned everything off earlier. I guess I am behind again.

Isn't it amazing how far behind you can get by missing a couple of hours? I long for the days of reliable government where you can get upset over something but know it does not mean something terribly destructive is happening. *sigh*

Beer, bingo cards and DU. Actually, it does not get much better than that if you have to suffer through the likes of Bush**.

OK, I am now going to go look at it since I have a meeting with a friend to move furniture in a few hours and that will lighten my mood up a little.

Are you dry? We are a bit ahead this year but it comes all at once then stays dry and hot for a long time. Last year we could not get dry or hot. Strange times.

17. We are fine.

These are small, only about 15 miles wide. We ended up with a little over an inch here but my farm 10 miles away got almost nothing. They are not the kind that are going to go far, sorry. They are also not bad, just lots of lightning and rain, little hail. I will send rain thoughts your way. Have you been as hot there? It is really interesting to me. It is not too much above normal but it feels worse than ever. It isn't even the humidity. I am wondering if it isn't the thinner ozone making it seem more intense. I really should study up on this more.

23. Appreciate the good rain thoughts

Yeah, it's been hot here. Up in the lower to mid ninties for the past couple of weeks, with the forecast of 99-100 tommorrow. Cool down to the upper eighties for the weekend, but boy howdy, we need rain. I'm having to pump five hundred gallons of water a week, simply to keep my new trees and bushes alive.

Rain dance for all of those in the Midwest who are needing it.

21. I was safe inside

my house and it hit a tree outside. Our house has been hit twice before. It was the dogs reaction that was so funny. Everything is fine, I don't even see where it hit but I am pretty certain I know where it hit because it was right outside the window. For a big hit it did not seem to do any damage, well except for my dogs psyche!
