Anyone take bentonite clay?
I was watching something and they showed a vitamins/supplements store that sold bentonite clay. Low and behold the manager of the store took a few teaspoons of the stuff and mixed it with water, just like you would 'Quik" with milk. He up ended and down it went.
Ugh!
The idea comes from the fact that alot of animals will visit clay deposits and eat the clay. This enables them to eat and digest plants/seeds that are toxic. The toxins are abosorbed by the clay as they move throught the system. I guess some would see it as a good idea for us too.
Has anyone tried this stuff? Any truth to it? Health hazards involved? A while ago some guy posted asking about colloidal silver. The responce he recived was not encouraging.

Thanks in advance!

1. Well, my koi like it, every now and then.
But they also like fish food, and I'm not ABOUT to eat that.

4. Calling Dr. Tom, Calling Dr. Tom!
They use bentonite clay out here in the hill country to line the bottom of stock tanks so that they will hold water (also to plug leaks in stock tanks - ponds.)

Hope it doesn't plug you up too

8. I only use it in making soap

Just a little to give a nice slippery feeling that's good for shaving. Too much and it dries out the skin.

Which might suggest drawbacks to ingesting it. The betonite you purchase in the health food store is a dry powder. If you're taking it with water, isn't it more likely to soak up water than toxins? Is there a potential for dehydration?

Personally, I can't bring myself to intentionally consume dirt, no matter how clean.
