Who has me on ignore?
Edited on Tue Jun-28-05 11:23 PM by uppityperson
I'd like to know. Really. I listened to Mr.bush's speech, keping track of how many times he said "terror/terrorist/iraq/iraqi/iraqis/freedom/bin Laden/ 9/11 / or WMDs"(0 for WMD)
and rousted a disruptor. So now I'm feeling frisky and wondering, who has me on ignore?

Hey moderators, how about adding that?

I do not follow the logic of your post, especially the jump from line two to line three, is there a disconnect?

She's in her upper 70's and has no fashion sense what-so-ever. Other than that, she's ok and I love her dearly even tho she votes for the wrong party.

Damndest thing is.... she's a progressive about many issues (gay rights, abortion to name a couple) but watches way too much Faux news.

27. Wishing I could
but not really an option. I just keep plugging away at how the lies keep building and how she taught myself and my brothers about always telling the truth. Maybe one of these days she'll 'get it'.

29. So do I *sigh*
She's definitely not a fundie repug and doesn't realize that many of her values are actually Democratic values. I think she is more the 'old fashioned' moderate conservative type who has been forgotten by both parties.

31. Some people have been repubs so long, once they listen they change
My mother was repub, finally started looking at more issues 20 yrs ago and changed to dem. (dead 15 yrs, but wuld be a rabid raving liberal by now). It took her a while to look at what they were all saying.

33. Mom's in her upper 70's now and
stubbornly resistant to changing parties. She is very open in some ways but when it comes right down to the ballot box..........you're not going to change her mind. I've tried and it just isn't going to happen.

34. Mine said there was too much to consider, didn't want to vote straight part
Didn't want to vote straight party ticket, but too many issues to balance it all out, so chose 1 issue and voted for whomever had the best record about that 1 issue. The issue was women's rights. She though no one should EVER have an abortion, but that they should be legal in case you had to. By limiting it to 1 issue, she could do research and actually see what someone had voted on in the past.

Before this, she would vote repub because there were too many things to consider. She would be in late 70s now also. How about looking at more local issues and voting on them? And sometimes we have to just let our parents be. sigh.

37. Ike's Farewell Address might help her see what we're facing.
"In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.

Akin to, and largely responsible for the sweeping changes in our industrial-military posture, has been the technological revolution during recent decades."
