My Wife (CYLRC) Had a Miscarriage
Edited on Wed Jun-29-05 12:17 AM by JCMach1
She had to have an emergency D&C last night. :(

She is okay and doing fine...

She had one of those weird pregnancies where apparently (easy to see from the ultrasound) the fetus was either reabsorbed by the body, or just completely stopped growing and disappeared.

She will no doubt be back to DU in a few days.

9. I'm so sorry. Losing a baby is

a very sad experience and one that our society doesn't usually allow us to grieve. You don't have to have seen your unborn child to love him/her but many people expect you to just suck it up and carry on as if it never happened. :-(

:grouphug: for you both

P.S. I'm not sure how old your other children are, but be alert to them having emotional upsets, fears, etc., about the lost sibling. Many kids fear that their own ambivalence or negativity about a new baby disrupting their lives somehow caused the baby's death. They may also have fears about their mother dying, now seeing her as vulnerable, not immortal. When we lost our second child, it took our daughter at least a year to get over it.

11. Yea, we suffered through many mis
ourselfs....

You do need to grieve......

Check out your hospital to see if they have a counselor who can direct you to a local group....

I'm not a touchy feely type of guy but I did feel better after going to one session...

And I know Mrs. WC Green felt a whole lot better to talk about her feelings with other people who could relate.....

12. Sorry for you.
Sounds like one of those things. Take it easy, both of you, and don't be suprised if either of you takes it hard, or says it is just 1 of those things as both these are normal and common reactions. It happens to a lot of us, and it can be difficult. Sorry for you.

29. Been through this myself. Several times before I had my son.
And my pregnancy with my son was absolutely normal. I'm not saying that to lessen your loss, but just to give you hope that even women who go through multiple miscarriages can have healthy pregnancies.

I don't know if you are open to advice, but I'm going to say a few things to you. First, and I don't know why, but society ignores miscarriages as if they are something shameful to go through. People will say ignorant things to your wife like, "There must have been something wrong with the baby," or "You can always have another," or "God knows what's right, and you can't question his decision to take the baby."

Hold your wife. Express your loss to her. Cry with her. Don't let her go through this alone.

When I lost my second pregnancy, a friend brought me a book entitled "Getting Pregnant and Staying Pregnant." I don't suggest the book to you because of the advice on the topic that the title suggests, but because there is some excellent poetry in it, written by women who have had miscarriages. That poetry carried me through the emotionally traumatic time of post-miscarriage. I still have the book.

Please give your wife a huge hug from me, and please tell her that she can PM me if she wants to just talk, to someone who's been there before. Give her my love, and much love to you, too.

:loveya:

31. I am sorry. I know
how it feels. I had an ectopic pregnancy last year. It is hurtful b/c you get so excited about it. I am in the process of trying again. It took me almost a year to try again (I had to wait 6 months)! Stay strong for her! I am praying for y'all!!
