Lawmaker's Wayward E-Mail Refers To Constituents As 'Idiots' (NY)

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- A New York state lawmaker says he's embarrassed, after he mistakenly sent out an e-mail message that referred to his constituents as "idiots."

Assemblyman Willis Stephens says he thought he was sending the e-mail to an aide. Instead, he sent the note to nearly 300 people on an online discussion group that focuses on the community of Brewster.

The message included the comment that he was "just watching the idiots pontificate."

Within an hour of sending the message Monday morning, Stephens sent another e-mail apologizing for the slip-up.

Stephens, a Republican, represents an area north of New York
City.

15. Must be the inbreeding of the Repubs

Just a couple years ago, we had a jerk carpetbagger full of bluster and bullshit blow into my town. He ran for mayor with plans to revitalize the city center, attract commercial development, etc. typical Repub b.s. Well, it turned out his big plan was to have the city buy a large parcel of land that had a lake, woods, and nice location in the center of town. It was sold to us as a great acquisition for the future, retaining open space, a new community park setting, blah blah blah. What we didn't know that even before the taxes were levied to buy this parcel, he and his commercial real-estate developing buddies already had plans to carve it up among themselves. Monetary fiasco, budgetary disaster, long and short of it he called us all a bunch of hillbillies in front of a city council meeting and broadcast on local cable, and resigned. These assholes have nothing but contempt for the voting public; Repubs hate the common people. All you have to do is scratch the surface or question them and you see what they are really all about.
