"A Day In The Life". My four-year old grandson and I talked about it.
We had an interesting conversation about this song. I was driving him home from daycare and put my "Sergeant Pepper" CD in. I flipped right to the end for this great track. After a few minutes he said:

"Grandpa, I don't like this song."

"Why not, sweetie?"

"I dunno. It's weird. It makes me feel sad."

"Why?"

"I dunno. What's it about?"

"Well..." (Good question!) "...it's about a man who is sad."

"Why is he sad?"

"Well, he's sad because bad things happen in life, and he can't do anything about it."

"Oh. Well, it's weird."

After that, I flipped it back to "When I'm 64". He liked that one much better. :-)

"What's this song about, Grandpa?"

"This song is about a man who is happy."

"Why is he happy?"

"Well, he's happy because even thought bad things happen in life, he's surrounded by people who love him and make everything all right."

"Oh. I'm glad he's happy."

"Me too, sweetie."

I just ADORE my grandson! :-)

1. That's sweet
That song always makes me feel sad too, Lennon was good at drawing out emotions if the listener was old or 4 years old.
I love being an uncle too. I once asked my nephew (years ago when he was about 4 also) "Why does the world spin?". He cocked his little head and thought for a bit then said "Because what comes around goes around". I was quite amused at his answer, but also very impressed.
I love kids. Maybe one day I can get me some of those...lol.

4. He is! Here's a pic of the two of us. (It's a few years old now):

He's playing monkey-see-monkey-do.

6. You're a good grandpa!
And you can tell he loves you to pieces. Kids don't mimic those they don't think are cool! And you're it! :hi:

5. One day I came home from kindergarten...
the record player was emitting horrible noise. I asked my mom if the record player was broken. No, it was just Yoko Ono.

11. I don't think he's ready for Yoko.
I don't think he ever will be, either. He likes music. ;-)
