Have a good thought, say a prayer
do whatever it is you do for me. Tomorrow is my review. My first since i screwed a process up royally. I've been paranoid ever since then that i was going to be fired. I did get written up for it, but i'm still paranoid as hell. It was the day after we found out a co-worker had committed suicide. Not that that's an excuse for my error.

2. Good luck and I'll be thinking good thoughts
Don't be so hard on yourself. We have all made mistakes and even the bosses have and they know that. You aren't your job.
Make sure you post and tell us what happened.

3. why isn't that an excuse for your error?
don't know what you're talking about specifically, but you're sending yourself down in flames if you keep talking the way you do

7. convince them it is
find a person with a name, a human heart, who happens to have a title for a manager, and convince them to advocate for you. you can't fight "management". but they can fight each other. this sounds like a plot from "no exit"

5. As someone who used to be in management
If I wanted to fire your ass, I'd have already done it. The mistake will probably come up in your review and so it might not be all you would have hoped for. But don't sweat it.

But I'll say a prayer for you anyway, don. I don't think you need it, but you got it anyway :)

Khash.

10. What's insane is that employees should have to feel like you do.

Just one more example that we haven't progressed a lot since feudalism.

It's totally unfair that humans should not be allowed to make the occasional human error, particularly when an unusual event has upset their concentration. One person shouldn't have to grovel before another, either, unless s/he has truly wronged the other.

I agree that you're unlikely to be fired if you haven't been already but it is likely that you'll hear about your error in the review. Be ready with a calm expression if you can.

As the Duchess of Windsor allegedly said, "Never apologize, never explain." Just listen to the comments and indicate that you have learned from the experience.

It will all be behind you soon -- something to look forward to! Best of luck.

11. I know you're anxious, but if they were going to fire you, they would
have done it already. You may get a crappy evaluation, but I think your job is safe. Good luck!
