Group gets naked to protest bullfights

MADRID - A group of half-naked animal rights demonstrators brought Madrid’s historic Puerta del Sol square to a halt on Wednesday in a protest against bullfighting.

Shoppers gawped and tourists snapped photos as the five young women and one man carried out one of a series of protests leading up to the traditional “running of the bulls” in the northern Spanish town of Pamplona starting next week.

“Stop the Bloody Bullfights” read one sign held by the protesters, who wore only white panties and plastic bulls horns on their heads. “Torture is not art or culture” they chanted. <snip>

7. Oh my god, I found the most disturbing letter ever on that site

This is an excerpt from a letter addressed to Donald Rumsfeld:

I invite you to tip the scales back a bit by coming to Spain to participate in the Running of the Nudes— also called the Human Race—an alternative to the cruel spectacle that occurs three days later.

12. We should protest naked to stop the war. It would get attention.

Of course we need some good looking bodies along with the majority of us. I think a bunch of old farts running around naked would not get a lot of sympathy but a large crowd of naked folks of all types gathered in one place like Golden Gate Park would attract the media.

We would need a message that is easy to get out there before we all get thrown in jail.

I would take part if enough people were willing to do it. Maybe a critical mass would keep the authorities from arresting everyone.

And they always get media coverage, even when they are fairly small. This is a tactic that has been proven to work, that is why people keep doing it.
