I haven't seen it since the 80's. What a great flick!

1. Did you ever read the book?
It's about the only book I've ever read that I had to put down for a few days because I was so emotionally overwhelmed. It was a real heart-ripper.

2. I haven't researched it yet, was this a true story?
Was it written first person actually there, by the guy Peter MacNichol played?

and I don't think it's a true story, although I'm sure choices like this must have been made.

3. That was a fucked up choice she had to make!
I've never seen the entire film, but just that scene.....oh...made me feel very ugly inside. :scared:

4. I know...I wonder why she chose to let them take the daugher
If she thought the boy had a better chance of surviving.

7. Hell of an actress
Must have been a difficult role to prepare for. I don't know much German, but what I heard of German's speaking it when I was stationed over there. Her German sounded no different. The Polish, I can't really speak for. She did a great job on the accent as well. An oscar well deserved.

A powerful, superb movie, and I'll never watch it again.

14. Yes, after I saw that, though it was excellent, I was so down
That goes on my list of "I will never watch that one again."
