Turner Classic Movies. "Spaceballs."

Nice to see it letterboxed and uncut. Need the DVD though.

1. Does it really qualify as a 'classic' movie?

2. I was wondering that myself
"Blazing Saddles" and "Young Frankenstein", yes.

Maybe it was part of a theme day or something. There are some clever moments, like the music from "Lawrence of Arabia" playing during the desert scene. And the Jawas whistling the music heard in "Bridge On The River Kwai". "Lawrence", "Kwai", and "Star Wars", on which this scene (and the movie in general) were based, all starred Alec Guinness.

Doesn't make this a classic, but I like the homages to classic movies in it. Note also the "Wizard of Oz" tribute when they first visit Yogurt.

MGM of course is owned by Turner, the owner of the network.

8. Exactly. It's a pretty weak movie...

I loved it when I was a kid, but watching it now makes me cringe half the time Brooks or Moranis is on-screen. Candy is wonderful, though. What a loss.

Mel Brooks is a genius when he wants to be, but a complete hack when he doesn't.

4. The WS DVD is available at grocery stores for under $10.
I bought it for my son this month. The one I got has some extras on it as well.

5. We love "Spaceballs"
We had it on tape and I bought the DVD too. The kids watch it several times a year.
