OK, I'm a dumbass!
About an hour ago, my son comes and tells me that he's hungry. I throw a pizza in the oven for him. My daughter came in a few minutes ago and asked me what he had for lunch. DING! OH SHIT! The pizza was still in the oven. Normally, the little booger keeps coming back, asking if it's done yet. The pizza is black, the vent is sucking the smoke out of the kitchen. The kid is asleep. He asked for food, then took a nap. My nose is all stopped up, I didn't smell it, and I'm less than 10 feet away.

1. Miz t. likes to put a pot of beans on and then
remembers that she didn't finish weeding around the front walk.
About 2 hours later I started to smell charred beans way out here in the other end of the house.
One thing at a time, I sez.
Either cook beans or weed.
Not both.

2. Well, it takes twenty minutes for the pizza to cook
I was right here, on DU, less than ten feet away.

10. If I didn't set the oven timer, I'd forget stuff all the time.

You'd think I was smoking weed... I space out, so I adopted the trick an old man friend uses-he has a stretchy coiled keyring bracelet which he puts on to make himself remember to turn off the sprinklers(or whatever).

6. Oh lord. I use cues and reminders like that all the time.
Put my wedding ring on the wrong finger.
That works.
Getting old sux.

12. Yeah, that's what he said
He's quite the actor. I've had him tell me before that he was so hungry he can't move...then five minutes later, he's attacking his sister.

9. I do that with laundry all the time.
We have to use a laundry facility. If I forget to turn on the timer on my microwave I won't remember to put the clothes in the dryer.

2 hours hours later, I'll remember. Sometimes. :D
