A professional résumé - point size?

I'm working on my ladies for design and trying to get it all on one page. What's my limit for point size?

4. 12 point is good...

You really have to go by feel, though... it depends on the font, too.

A 12 point arial is huge compared to a 12 point Times New Roman or New Century Schoolbook.

As long as it's not too small, and blends with the other sections, it'll be fine.

6. 10 Pt is kind of small

you want someone to be able to read it easily, not to have to squint -

Times New Roman 12 pt is the benchmark for all US Govt correspondence, resumes, etc.

Much easier to read for the visually challenged.
If it won't fit on one page:
1. Don't be a slave to the one-page nazis.

11 pt is the most readily legible--not to small like 10 pt and not oversize like 12 pt. It's been proven! You can look it up!

easier to read and figure that people spend an AVERAGE of 30 SECONDS looking at your resume! It's a fact!

Don't try to cram too much info on you resume. Save it for your letter or vitae.

11. Depends on teh outcome of the resume

If you are e-mailing it everywhere, 10 will work. If you are faxing, 10 point font is going to blur and become unreadable.

I'd stick with 11 or bigger, knowing that resume's are inevitably faxed somewhere.

After you reach a certain age, tiny type can be extremely difficult to read.

Arial narrow works well (condensed yanno). Try to keep it to one page. I've interviewed literally hundreds of people. It's annoying to have to flip from page to page.

Don't bother with fancy fonts or type treatments. Just the facts. Spelling and neatness count more than style (sorry; and yes I am in a creative profession. The interview is the place for you to showcase your creativity).
