Why do freepfucks always bring up the bombing of the USS Cole?
I mean...even if Clinton SLEPT..the Cole resulted in the loss of 17 lives if I am not mistaken. Why on earth would they use the loss of 17 troops to justify the loss of nearly 2000 troops? Or all the people in the WTC when Bush was on vacation and ignored all the warnings?
(this thread is in response to posts I read by a now tombstoned brain dead freeper)

1. Remember the Cole
We never forgot.

My question is, "Remember WMD?"

Nobody over there seems to remember that.

2. They love to use it as an example of Clinton's
"incompetence" in a military-type situation. Without fail, my freepfuck idiot RW relative brings up the Cole whenever I mention Bush's nonresponse to warnings about 9/11.

I think they get it from an e-mail.

he invariably comes out with, "Well, all politicians are crooked." to end the conversation. :eyes:

5. Your next line should be
"SO you admit Bush is a crooked lying, incompetent thief?"

6. Clinton was about to leave office so

perhaps he thought Dubya would take care of investigating the Cole bombing. Perhaps he didn't want to start something that Dubya would have to finish -- like Poppy had started the mess in Somalia for Clinton to be blamed for.

12. But they don't know when it happened
Ask a freeper when the Cole was bombed and you'll get an answer that ranges from 1993 to 1999. When you say it was one week before the 2000 election and all the evidence was handed to Bush on day 1 of the junta and Bush did absolutely nothing with it...they get that stupid ass look on their face...like this one...

to base their assertions on so they got to make up shit to try to prove their point.

9. Cuz they don't know Halliburton was in charge of logistics and refueling
thanks to Cheney's privatization of those services when he was Sec. of Defense.

That's why I think the Cole bombing could have happened on purpose.

The evidence that it was a Bin Laden act didn't come out till January and Clinton specifically wanted Bush to make the decision to respond because it would be Bush that had to carry out the mission. Remember Poppy starting up Somalia and handing it to Clinton when it's always easy to invade or attack, but, difficult to carry through to an exit strategy or nation build.

Then Saint Ronnie of Raygun chickened out and pulled the troops from town in response.

13. The bombing of the Cole resulted in the plans for an invasion of

Afghanistan and elimination of bin Laden, which plan was presented by Richard Clarke to the incoming administration and promptly ignored. This plan was prepared and finalized in December of 2000.

The plan consisted of using special operations teams, airstrikes, etc. Many of the concepts in this plan were used during the post-9/11 invasion.

Had the Bush administration followed the plans which the Clinton administration developed in response to the Cole, 9/11 would not have happened.

The fact is that the bombing of the Cole happened less than 2 months before Clinton left office. When Bush took office, he did NOTHING in response to the Cole and pursued no course of action remotely related to it until after 9/11.

The reason that Clinton did not implement the plan is because he had the common courtesy to not leave the incoming administration with a situation comparable to what he was left with by George HW Bush in Mogadishu.

Any freeptard who tries to use the Cole as justification is completely ignorant of reality.

15. More to the point, the Cole was that skipper's fault
When you pull into a hostile port like Aden, you need to blow up a rowboat and stick two guys with a grenade launcher in it.

One quick high-explosive grenade on the floor of the terrorists' boat would have put an immediate end to that Cole incident.

to be carrying weapons.

That's a fact.

The investigators were made to leave for a bogus reason.

Wonder if Poppy had something to do with that.

Edit- can't find links to investigators being thrown out.

But plenty on how hard it was to work with Yemen.

20. that was an interesting piece, but not reliable
the sources of info were all official sources, and I didn't find them trustworthy at all.

Frances Townsend was the main source in that piece, and she now is Bush's terror czar.

22. I saw the piece as an attempt to explain the John O'Neill story
the very unlikely John O'Neill story.

#1 investigator of bin Laden, forced out of FBI in summer of 2001, then dies in the WTC on 9/11, his first day at his new job as head of security fo the WTC?

I'm surprised there's been only one piece exploring this impossible coincidence.

17. Their options are limited.
LAX New Year's 2000 - Clinton success vs Bush's 9/11.

Oklahoma City Bombing and Waco: Neo Con Fundamentalism gone awry.

Rwanda = Darfur: US presence noticeable by its absence.

Bosnia-Herzegovenia and Screbernicia: LMAO - I mean, REALLY, can you imagine your typical Freeper trying to spell and/or pronounce either?

Compare to: Cole - A simple, single syllable word. (Added convenience of having Al Queada connections and occurring during Clinton tenure.)

18. First off: Freepers think 9/11 WAS Clinton's fault.
I suppose those meetings and those memos directed to the Bush Administration from the Clinton administration regarding the seriousnsess of terrorist threats were a figment of the lefts' collective imagination.

Second, can you even begin to imagine the uproar on the right if Clinton HAD launched a major attack? He would have left a brand new administration with a war on its hands! We'd still be hearing about it....oh wait, we still are, aren't we? :eyes:
