For those of you wondering when the Finnfan/SarahBelle sappiness will end

I hate to break it to you, but it's only going to get worse.

We all spend our time in this "virtual community" called DU. We discuss politics, laugh, make friends, and flirt. As real as it seems sometimes, however, everything we see on our computers is simply a collection of ones and zeros, combined in a clever way in order to make words appear on screen. You can't really know anything about a person until you meet them face-to-face in something that Sarah calls "The Reality Sphere." Everything else is just a trick of technology.

Now that I've met SarahBelle, and spent time with her, I have been pulled back into "The Reality Sphere". And I love it. I feel alive again. I feel like anything is possible. She actually likes everything that I already am, and does not expect more. And I feel exactly the same way about her.

And one thing she likes about me is the fact that I really enjoy telling everyone that I'm crazy about her, and that I already feel like there's nobody else I'd rather spend my time with.

To make this post extra sappy, here is a picture taken today of Sarah & I. The flash didn't go off like it was supposed to, but we both really liked the way this came out.

I know there's a good portion of people who may not get this or may not get us. FF and I spent years in unhappy marriages (we wanted them to be happy, we tried to be happy, but our partners weren't available in the same way on the same level). We both put ourselves out there before in other ways and got our hearts badly broken.

Perhaps someone who is young and has never been through what we've been through in life could look at us and see it as silly, but there's something about the shear gratitude of finding someone who wants what you want and feels what you feel after what is essentially a lifetime of not having that.

I have nothing against you. You seem like a great person, but it takes courage for someone to put their heart out there the way he does and I feel rather protective of his heart at the moment. :)

24. Ok, but I'm going to have to disagree with the part about not knowing

anything at all about someone until you meet in real life. Personally, I was in love with nsma before I ever met her. Meeting her just convinced me of it. And there are others here who I have not yet met in person (though I plan to someday) who I consider good friends, better than some I have in "real life." It's not all technology. There are people behind the keyboards. ;)

I think though that no matter what a person feels though, if it never goes beyond the virtual realm after an inordinately long period of time, you have to eventually cut your losses and face the fact that the other person didn't feel what you feel (which wasn't the case for you obviously and thankfully :)). I've been down that road as well. It hurt me deeply. :(

In a romantic relationship, there is definitely a point at which you really DO need to meet. I was only commenting on the way ff seemed to be saying that internet relationships are simply fake if you don't meet in person, and I still don't agree with that. I'll assume he meant it to apply to romantic ones in the sense that, like you say, you have to meet eventually. :)

I'm thrilled for you two... and I completely understand how it feels to meet someone so suited to you after having been through so much wrong before. ;)

We talked on the phone for hours before we met, and I felt I got to know her well enough to fall head over heels. There was still a slight lingering doubt however: Is this person really who she seems to be? That, I couldn't be sure of until I met her.

I like spending time in The Reality Sphere. I've got the best family a person could possibly ask for, and I'm especially enjoying my vacation to my homeland (except that during this portion, I'm really missing my husband!).
