UPDATE: Snoopy Has A Vet Appointment!!!!!!!
I made Snoopy a Vet appointment today for 9:45 on Thursday July 14. I explained to the Vet my situation and she exclaimed the basics of what Snoopy would need. Heartworm Medication: Since Snoopy was found a Stray they are going to consider him positive for heartworms. General Rabbis Shot, General Hepatitis Shot, and Flea medication.

The Vet Gave me the estimated Price as following:

Heartworm: $40
Rabbis: $15
Hepatitis: $20
Flea Med: $15-$20

Thank You For everyones help and encouragement :)

1. Won't she just give Snoopy a blood test for heartworm?
Then, if it's negative, he'll get HeartGuard (or whatever heartworm preventative your vet uses).

I had one of my sister-in-law's dogs to the vet last week for all his shots and they did ran a routine bloodtest for heartworm. He's an 86 pound animal so his heartworm medicine ran close to $80 (the larger the dog, the more the medicine costs).

2. Wow, what kind of Heartworm medicine is it...
...I use Frontline, which I researched and found to be the best. The most expensive I've found it for is $25 for a monthly dose.

Did you buy a pack of 4 or 6 doses?

5. 6 doses
How big is your dog? My friend has one that's around 15 pounds and pays way less for her heartworm medicine (and she uses the same vet) - the chewy her dog gets is also much smaller than what my sister-in-law's dog gets. They do base the dosage on the size of the dog and the bigger the dog, the bigger the price. It's been this way at a couple different vets for us.

6. Frontline is for fleas and ticks
Heartguard, Sentinel, Interceptor, and Revolution take care of heartworm prevention, and some intestinal parasites.
