Best Queen songs NOT song by Freddie Mercury

For those of us who are bigtime Queen fans we all know that Freddie did not do all the lead vocals on the Queen albums. Roger Taylor and Brian May were both good vocals and many of the songs record on the albums were song by Roger Taylor. However, it seems that many of the biggest Queen hits that everyone knows were the Freddie Mercury songs because lets face it - Freddie Mercury was a major stage presense, probably one of the biggest in history.

But if you know Queen albums you'll know that Freddie wasn't the only one who did lead vocals.

Probably the most notable NFL(Non-Freddie Lead) would be "I'm in Love With My Car" off of Night at the Opera. It's a really great slow jamming confession of love to one's car. Other favorite NFL Queen songs include "Drowse" off of "Day at the Races", "Some Day One Day" off of Queen II and "'39" off of "Night at the Opera". I believe Taylor song all of those songs except "'39"

I like that one the best. I like to play and sing "39", so that's next and "Sleeping on the Sidewalk" is after that.

speaking of "News to the World" who song "Sheer Heart Attack" I think that's Roger's voice. I'm trying to put together an all non-freddie mix. I just got all the NFL songs off of Jazz which was "Leaving Home Ain't Easy" and "More of that Jazz"

they left it off the sheer heart attack album- and used it in News of the world. Roger would sing his compostions as would May sing some of his, but Freddy sung most of the May songs. All of the albums were that way until "the Works" came out, Radio GA GA was written by Roger but sung by Freddy. They lost many fans in America with the Dance techo sound of HOT Space which was the album before the works.

-- the drummer- Whats his name?- his voice is nearly the same as Freddies-- Brian May had a much weaker voice but could hit 2 notes higher than anyone else--

Since I havent listened to any queen on a CD I cam only assume that the sutle differences between the Drummer & Freddies voices are lost.

Most of the vocals on the 1st 3 albums were not just Freddie-- Roger played an intergral part in singing lead--much of the apparent overdubbing is not-- its the drummer & Freddie-- the reason is that they could reproduce much of the sound live in concert, though many assumed it was overdubbing.

I saw Queen in support of Sheer Heart Attack, they started the show by doing the whole side of Sheer Heart Attack that has Brighton Rock on it-- straght thru -- as it is on the album.

I'll bet that the drummer sung lead on almost every song on the 1st 3 or 4 albums.

14. Roger had a more of a husky voice - if you listen to Queen long

enough you can tell the difference. He also sung louder with a light distortion -Rock N Roll style than Freddy who had more of a pop sound. You have CDs, in the LPs the liner notes would say who is singing. In the early Queen Albums Roger sung only one song on each Alum: Modern Times Rock N Roll - Queen, Loser in the End- Queen 2, Tenement Funster on Sheer Heart Attack, Love with my Car- Night at the Oprea, Drowse- Day at the Races. He then was on two songs on News of the World- Sheer Heart Attack and Fight from the inside. Also on two on Jazz; More of that Jazz and Fun It with Freddy adding some vocals.

7. Edit :correction I do remember Some Day One Day now, it was

a Brian May song. Brian May sung more vocals than Roger Taylor on Queen Albums. May sung on 39. But Freddy would sing it when on tour and he did a good job on it. May's Long Away on Day at the Races good. Drowse by Taylor was one of his best vocals, along with More of that Jazz and Fun it form Jazz.

11. That song is called Misfire it was written by John Deacon and

that is Freedy singing the song-not Roger. It was on Sheer Heart Attack not Queen 2. Roger only would sing on his own compostions. But he did Backgound vocals for many other songs on the Queen Albums.

Nah he sung with Freddie on at least 1/3 to half of songs with Freddie singing-- on the early material.

How do you think they got the overdub sound live in concert? Because they recorded it in the studio that way. With 2 singers.

15. Whatever Dude, he did not sing on Misfire that is Freddy. Roger

would do the AHHHHs and high pitched wails on the early albums- if that is what you are talking about. The overdubs were done on songs like Bohemian but not all their songs were like that.

A group I'm in at college was given $2K to throw a non-alcoholic event last year, and we spent it all on wings, tacos, and ice cream bars and had an eating contest. "Fat Bottomed Girls" was our theme song. GOOD TIMES!

25. Well they like to play some Queen stuff all the time.

Like "We will rock you", and "We are the Champions"(especially the Super Bowl). But at a lot of NFL games I hear them play "Another one bites the dust". So there are some great NFL songs.
