when old Benjamin showed up - he may have bought the property from the Mormons (LDS).
I could be wrong - I'm sure someone will be more than happy to tell me if I am.
So, sorta fitting for a Mormon to host Vegas' 100th birthday.
edited to add: It also fits the schizophrenic nature of Vegas - legal gambling versus a strong Catholic and LDS presence. You'd have to live here to "get" that particular Vegas characteristic. Constant cognitive dissonance.

They don't gamble, but some have managed casinos. They have a reputation as trustworthy, responsible businessmen.
