I'm going to use them as templates next time I make pancakes. Last time, I made elephant and donkey pancakes (with cookie cutters I bought for the election, but never actually made cookies with).

36. I made a freehand "H" pancake for the toddler.

(Her first initial -- she knows most of her capital letters.)

She was in a toddlery mood but she perked right up. "You made an H pancake! H is for me!"

She ate the H and asked for another pancake, and I gave her a plain one: "That's a O pancake!"

That gave me an idea -- I cut the O in half and cut out a hole in the middle. "That's a D!" I cut a notch, turned it sideways: "That's a U!" Turned it again: "That's a C!" Cut it into little pieces and she ate it all up.
