I got a new oven today!!!
:7

For the last year and a half I have had only two working burners and only the broiler part inside the oven worked. I also had a dishwasher that only had one use, being a place to set dishes to dry.

I can finally bake, and totally clean, and make bigger dinners, and stuff. It's pretty cool.

A few years ago when I was in highschool, I never dreamed I would get so excited about ovens and dishwashers. :7

29. It's esp. special to me because
I had been unemployed for two years, then underemployed for one, paying my own insurance and Social Security and being harassed by my nutty boss.

I lived in a hovel apartment that leaked when it rained, and had to do my laundry, when I could afford to, in the ratty, bug-infested communal laundry room.

So, new job, new apt, and they just delivered my new W & D!

Have fun!

13. Well buy a wok
and make him some homemade Chinese food...I know, I know...not as good as the real thing.

I hope "the man" will do his share of cooking on the new oven. It's only fair.

He fears my mighty wrath :7

And he makes a bitchin spaghetti bake. And doesn't burn the bacon like I do.

25. Well,
I was thinking about something along the lines of mashed organic potatoes (we recently discovered these, omg they are the best), baked chicken thighs, maybe some corn. The man is thinking about spaghetti bake now that we can actually bake. We will figure it out when he gets home from work- in the meantime, Banquet frozen dinners. :loveya:

4. Oh, wait 'til you get the new washer and dryer!
That was huge for me.

(and the cordless vacuum...now I vacuum 'traffic' spots every morning so we can come home to a perfectly clean house...what a geek!)

8. That will be a day in Heaven for me
Until then, I use a laundry facility. But I *do* have a very cool vacuum. :D Not cordless, but bagless! How does a cordless vacuum work? Batteries or something? (Whole new concept to me)

19. It's a little Eureka cordless/bagless w/a beater brush
Cost something like $37.00.

It has a battery and the charger is a little stand that plugs in to an outlet.

(Like a slim dustbuster that actually works).

28. I still vacuum the whole house on the weekends
Edited on Fri Jul-08-05 05:29 PM by Debi
It's just the little cordless lets me hit the kitchen, living room rug and hall by the front door each morning. Five minutes tops. Love it!

edit for link:

I know it was less than $40.00, I think I got it at Target, maybe on sale??

7. A full-functioning dishwasher changes your life!
No more washing dishes (averages 15 minutes a day). Every month, you gain almost 8 hours of free time. Now that's something to be excited about.

11. *And*
it keeps my puppy out of my hair for about a half hour while she tries to figure out what that big black thing is making noises for.

Someday she will get tired of it, but for now, it's cute as hell.

Top freezer. But it's new! (OK a year old) It has an ice maker, too! One of the ones in the freezer, not in the door.
