Poll question: Online banking- the awesome or the suck?
Bank of America's online banking is quite possibly the most convenient thing ever; it's perfect for college students (like moi)who have bills but very rarely have permanent addresses in which to receive actual paper bills.
I've paid off my credit card for 4 straight months since I've gotten it, and I like to be able to really monitor what my money flow is like.
So I give it a big thumbs up- however, I've heard MANY people say they HATE online banking.
Thoughts? Is this an age thing?

1. It has it's plusses and minuses just like any other kind of banking
Walking in the door and using an ATM also have their pros and cons

3. You'd better check your balances every day.
My Wells Fargo account was hacked last February. The hacker signed me up for Billpay & swiftly withdrew $2000. Luckily I caught it, complained, and the $2000 was put back in my account 3 days later. Wells Fargo's answer: "Well someone got hold of your password." "We dont know how it happened." etc:

4. I LOVE on-line banking, just not B of A!
I stopped using BIG Banks 5 years ago! They don't care if you're a customer or not, because they make most of their money on the corp accounts!

I deal with a local bank, get the same services, free checkiing, free billpay, and I'm actually treated like a human when I walk in the door.

Where have all the problems come from with security info accidental leaks? The BIG BOYS!

10. I agree...BofA's online banking is pretty good, BUT
I hate them. I am in the process of switching over to Washington Mutual.

6. Online banking is very convenient.
However, I check my balances very often. Sometimes more than once a day, depending on what's going on.

12. well I check once a month
Sorry but I travel. If it's going to be a hassle to do it online, then I'll stop doing it. The only point of doing it is to save time. Not to give me another daily chore!

Snail mail banking is once a month, and so should online banking.

So far, no worries, knock on wood.

15. I understand, but I like knowing if there's a problem up front.
I'd hate to think that an issue would pop up now, and I wouldn't know about it for 30 days.

7. Online banking at BofA rocks.
You can transfer money, pay bills, see your real time balance. I love it. It is great for people like me who are already swimming in paperwork.

I haven't had any issues with hacking either, because I only check the site from my computer, and I change my password so often even Mr. Midlo doesn't always know what it is.

9. I like it until they triple charge me and screw up my account...
But until then it was fine and easy. It's actually now a pain to deal with checks and stamps and money orders because my account is all screwed up.

It'll just take me a while to be comfortable with it again.

But I won't pay a fee to bank, so I do what online banking I can for free and the rest goes through the mail. It's crazy to spend $4.95 a month to save one or two 37 cent stamps. Well, I guess it's only 37 cents now, I only have one bill that I still have to pay through the mail.

My rule of thumb is, if you want to charge me to pay online, then you are going to have to keep opening snail mail and dealing with papercuts!

18. So are all the services at my local bank!
Free checking, free online banking, transfers, and free bill pay!

I just don't like the BIG BOX banks! I will never go back to one. The local banks are much friendlier, and if you do ever have a problem, you have a much better chance at getting it resolved at your local bank than trying to find someone at the BIG BOYS to help you!

16. I have a very hard time getting around
don't drive and am dependent on a mobility scooter or wheelchair. Online banking has been the absolute BEST thing that's ever come along for us. Between direct deposit and online billpay, I've actually been able to start fixing our credit problems from the 2 years my husband was out of work.

And I haven't had a late payment since we started with it.

I can check my balance, reconcile my account while mid statement cycle, transfer money, pay my credit card account. It's so much more convenient than going to the bank.

21. My credit union has awesome free on line bill pay svcs
and I can transfer money etc with ease.

We all have accounts at the same bank. Each account has a checking account feature and a savings account feature and two of them have cash management accounts also. The joint account has a Master Card and my individual account has the car note.

I can move funds all day within each account number say from the joint cash management to the joint checking but I can't move money from my individual one to the joint one or to our daughter's account. So when I need to float her some money for say a car repair or other emergency I have to call the bank to do it. Easy enough but I still wish I could do it on line.
