The representative removes the convert from his/her group of associates (family, friends, co-workers, etc.) and then reinforces the cult's principles by explaining inconsistencies and condemning principles that remain outside the sphere of the cult. The representative becomes the new subconscious of the convert's mind until the convert can independently think in the new terms of the cult.
