Did Nikola Tesla really castrate himself,

I can't find anything on snopes or google, but it's a pretty common myth (or knowledge?). Does anybody know?

3. I've read a lot about Tesla . . .

His is one of the great untold stories of science (i.e. how he was bascially screwed over by Thomas Edison). But I've never read that he castrated himself. I'm betting its a myth.

Turing was "chemically castrated", which actually involves a non-permanent drug treatment that reduces production of testosterone.
