This is the only shot I got of her so far. She's been running around too much for me to get any others. But as soon as I do I will post them! My other dog, Rogue, is a little freaked, but I caught them lying together this morning when I woke up.

When I was 19 (not like I'm that far from 19 now, I'm 25) I was switching jobs every 3 or 4 months. :hug: again. It'll get better.

Our friend's dog had puppies and I didn't think for a second my SO would let us have one. Then last night our friend showed up with this little girl! She is so adorable!

The rest is black. She's a Lab mix of some sort. And thanks! She is really cute, and smart! She knows paw already and she's already trying to go pee outside (she's not at 100% yet but she's trying).

(speaking from multiple puppy experience), that room seriously needs to be puppyproofed.

Been awhile, hasn't it?

See those cords/wires? Just the right size, shape for puppy teeth - especially the wide flat ones - slides in between the teeth and stimulates the gums - ask any teething puppy.

Wooden table legs - In about a month and a half - They'll just fit her mouth - but she will make the effort even before then.

The notebook, the plastic container, the chair, the shoe... :)

She's adorable, and I envy you every blessed little "Damn, I thought I had this house puppyproofed..." episode you will soon be encountering. (My youngest is a 9 month Black Lab/Border Collie Mix - I am in the process of learning about the 'Black Lab Wrecking Ball' aka: the tail.) :)

39. Oh yes.

I've been going around picking up and puppy proofing as I go along today. She's already starting with chewing, she's taken with my coffee table. I'm going to get some Bitter Apple today. My only problem is the wires. My other dog ignored them when she was a puppy so I didn't have to worry about it. So far, Molly hasn't tried to chew them, but she seems to enjoy being tangled up in them.

We are moving next month so we'll be able to set up a much more puppy proofed home, but in the meantime, I may have to put a blockade of some sort in front of the wires like the baby gate (which can't be used to keep the puppy in the kitchen, she can climb it already!).

Do you have any tips?

48. Tips? I don't know if I'd call them tips, but what I do is

use doors for separation - I have several large dogs and baby gates/puppy gates generally get annhilated in the exuberant playing which accompanies puppies.

I don't know what your spacial limitations are concerning 'puppyproofing' - doors may not be an option for you.

I have two large rooms with linoleum flooring. These are the rooms where the dogs stay when I'm not at home. All good furniture is removed from these rooms (I have found that commercial products such as Bitter Apple are not always deterents - depends upon the puppy.) No cords remain in these rooms when I leave. I will unplug anything and place the cord where the puppy cannot access it.

MONEY SAVING TIP: Remove ALL good furniture from the room(s) where the puppy will be primarily residing. If you do not have suffiecient room to move it into another area of the house and it is expensive furniture, I would suggest selling it and replacing it with less expensive furniture. That way when the sofa/chair/table accidently jumps into the puppy's mouth, the financial impact is minimized. Once the furniture has been trained to stay out of the puppy's mouth, you can move the good stuff back in.

The dogs are not supposed to go on the furniture, but you KNOW how this works - you leave, the dogs lounge - on the furniture. Table chairs (legs = chew toys) - put them up. On the table, on the sofa, on arm chairs. Unintentional side effect of this ploy is that if the table chairs are on the comfortable furniture, there is no room there for the dog(s) also.

If you have any type of chemicals in a low cupboard anywhere the puppy may be left - kitchen, bathroom, garage, utility room, move the chemicals to a higher cupboard or get locks for the doors. Like young children, puppies do get into cupboards, but unlike children, their teeth will puncture plastic containers and they may try eating the contents (consider anti-freeze - dogs love the taste.)

Closets, garages, utility rooms where you may put out poisons for rodents - remove them. Even if the puppy is not allowed into that room/area or you think the puppy is too big to get into that spot. REMOVE THEM! Because the minute you're not looking that puppy will fit itself into a spot considerably smaller than you thought possible.

What I do when I think I have a room safe for a puppy, I get down on the floor and look around. Things you may not see from the vantage of a human adult are suddenly glaringly obvious - also as you look around, ask yourself "What could I possibly chew? Could I damage the item, or myself if I chewed it?" Plugs, cords, books, tapes, surge protectors, CD/DVD racks that are open (and containing CDs and DVDs) and extend to the floor, books, magazines, clothes - I know for a fact that a subversive attack on socks can be accomplished so successfully that the human won't realize the deed was done until they go to put the socks on. (Clothes left on the floor, bed, or in a clothes basket on the floor or bed). Any food left out on tables (even in plastic containers) can act as a dog magnet.

Corki (as in a little Corker), my puppy, got me just last week - while managing to stay within her parameters. It had been excessively warm here and I had poured out a glass of lemon-lime Gatorade for myself (Approximately 13 ozs). I had left it sit on the kitchen table while I went to the bathroom. (Had it been milk, or another 'dog magnet' substance I would have placed it in the fridge or the microwave while I wasn't in the kitchen.) When I came out of the bathroom, she had drank most of the glass of gatorade. She knows she cannot go on the table. And she didn't. She had pushed one of the table chairs askew, jumped up on it, placed her front feet on the back of the chair and was leaning over the glass drinking - never touching the table.

9:00 pm at night. Let me tell you how 13 ozs of Gatorade affects a 55 pound 9 month old puppy. The little lady was WIRED! I literally feared for the ceiling fan. Until 2:00 am, noone slept - not myself nor the other dogs. At 2:00 she crashed. Literally - she became unconscious mid-leap. At 4:30am, I had to carry her outside to go to the bathroom. She was utterly exhausted.

No matter how well you puppyproof, the puppy will find a way to surprise you. I'm happy if I can keep anything that may injure them out of their reach. So far, so good.

Your Rogue sounds like an excellent dog who never gave you your requisite amount of puppy trials and tribulations. You probably won't be that lucky twice. In fact, Molly may make up for any problems Rogue didn't give you. Be prepared for that. :)

51. Heh. Rogue wasn't a perfect puppy by far.

It took us nearly 8 months to housetrain her, she ate (and still eats) any small tiny object I didn't manage to see on the floor, and she enjoyed chewing wood, like my coffee table which was once nice, but now sports multiple chew scars.

She's a lovable one! The Big Dog enjoys cuddling at times, but for the most part she's kind of like a cat; she doesn't want to be bothered unless she comes to you.
