Time for a "What's your favorite Coffee" thread.
Each year I ask this question and get numerous suggestions for new brands of coffee and where to buy them.

So what do you like?

1. Stumptown Roasters "Hair Bender"
Edited on Sat Jul-09-05 10:21 AM by swag
Hair Bender Blend

This blend consists of five different coffees from the three major growing regions of the world. Rich, complex and full of body, Hair Bender makes a spectacular cup. We use this blend for espresso in our cafés and roastery.

Holler Mountain is also pretty good.

Holler Mountain Blend (organic, fairtrade)

The Holler Mountain blend is a certified organic blend of Indonesian and Latin American coffees. This blend is notable for its balance of acidity, body, and sweet aroma. Holler Mountain also makes a great shot of organic espresso.

2. I'm partial to Indonesian coffees, e.g. Sumatra or Java....
Edited on Sat Jul-09-05 10:32 AM by mike_c
My second choices are some of the African coffees, e.g. Kenya AA. Of course, JBM would be high on the list, but it's unobtainable for us mere mortals....

6. I've gotten to like Sumatra too....I like Serena Organic
Good old Colombian. French Roast. Arabic coffee with put some hair on you chest. A shot of that is good.

Some of the flavors are good: Javanilla, Cream Brulee', Hazelnut Cream. But they smell like ass when you make them. I seem to be the only one I know who likes flavored coffee. I took in a former neighbor who was homeless for xmas a year and a half ago and I tried to make him some Cream Brulee' and he acted like I was about to serve him a cup of piss. I was like: "fuck, this guy eats out of dumpsters and he still want drink my coffee, maybe everybody is right and this shit is bad." So I don't know.

5. Community Coffee of New Orleans
Rich and tasty.

Or if you like a little chicory with your coffee try CDM (Cafe Du monde).

Coffee and Beignets at 2 in the morning overlooking Jackson Square and St Louis Cathedral. One of life's big pleasures. Highly recommended but its much better if you are actually sitting at one of their tables on Decatur Street.

7. My favorite American style coffee
is the Gayoland Sumatra French Roast from Jim's Organics

http://www.jimsorganiccoffee.com/menu.html

I worked in a coffee house for 6 years and we purchased beans from several different roasters. Certain roasters have their specialties. I found that Indonesian beans were always my favorites. Nicaraguan and Guatemalan coffees take a close second.

If you can always buy organic. Because coffee is a hand picked crop and the second most traded commodity in the world it makes a huge impact. Buying organics not only is better for the environment but really makes a difference in the local economies where the beans are grown. The money goes directly to the people.
