Where's your favorite local Ice Cream stop?

I have a few...

In Menominee, MI, there's the Downtown Sandwich and Ice Cream shop. It's kittty corner from the radio station there, and I stopped there for a Banana milkshake during the Pepsi 400 rain delay, as the network carrying the race ordered us to local programming until the track finished drying. The subs are damn good, too.

In Stevens Point, WI. there's Belt's on Division Street a good far walk from the UWSP campus. It's a soft serve joint, there's other places with better cones, but I love their bluebarry milkshakes.

In my hometown of Coleman, there's Christopher's on the highway. (They had a shot of it when PBS sent a crew up there for a segment on Mercury in fish for an episode of NOW With Bill Moyers.) They havce good ice cream and shakes.

Abbotts's Frozen Custard. :9 NOTHING holds a candle to Abbotts's. NOTHING, NOWHERE!

3. Maple View Farm Country Store, Chapel Hill, NC

It's out in the middle of nowhere, across the pasture from the farm. :D

They also sell fresh milk and butter. All is compeletely hormone and antibiotic free.

best milkshakes around and a very pleasant old bridge next to it for a great relaxing walk.

they are famous for there "goog" it is a blueberry shake with a chocolate sunday on top of it. only down fall, on hot days the line ups are insane..

also, any of the gelati places are great.

It's actually right across the street from one of my best friends' place, which is quite nice. Some amazingly delicious ice cream.

Their seasonal ice creams, Pumpkin and Cinnamon, are also terrific.

Also, Handel's in N. Ohio makes great ice cream, especially black raspberry

best frozen custard anywhere! Others have opened frozen custard stores here in the Tulsa area but they just taste like regular old soft serve ice cream. Can't hold a candle to Ted's!

10. Giffords in Bethesda md

Giffords is a family owned ice cream company that has been around for decades. They used to have a large parlor and candy shop in Silver Spring but that went out of business. After several years the children of the original owners have reopened in Bethesda. Peppermint stick and Swiss chocolate are the best

Originally just Youngstown, OH, but they've franchised and I know there's one north of Indianapolis.

It's the BEST!!! Bill Cosby orders gallons of it... The have a million flavors.

No, not a typo! It's a small ice cream bar on a farm about 1/2 hour from here... they recently expanded to selling their stuff to a local coffee place. I'm hoping their quality stays as wonderful as it is getting it right on the farm!

29. Maggie Moo's Marble Slab or Amy's

MS is a chain, but it is the only place I have been to that has Lemon Custard flavored Ice Cream. It reminds me of my Granny.:(. The cheesecake and sweet cream flavors are also good

Another chain, Coldstone Creamery, is just awful. Sticky and powdery

31. Phoenix: Mary Coyle's. Family run, incredible fresh peach ice cream,

and delicious homemade cold sandwiches.

Seventh Avenue, just north of Missouri. The perfect spot for a cool-down in the 110 degree heat, and natuarlly always busy.

32. Christina's in Cambridge

Christina's has everything from Mexican chocolate, to banana cinnamon, to carrot cake. They have several flavors of chocolate and an excellent selection of frozen yogurts (coconut almond is my fave).

Out in the 'burbs, Kimball Farm in Westford and Shaw Farm in Dracut have awesome ice cream.

A funny statistic is that New England consumes the most ice cream per capita of any other region. Even in winter!
