4. Civil War monument
but I'm not sure of the battlefield. From the topography, I'd say Shiloh or Gettysburg, but it could be a lot of other places as well.

7. Gettysburg?
I have yet to visit, but if I am bot mistaken I believe it was one of the Minnesota Regiments that sustained the highest casualty rate in that battle.

Kind of an odd thing really, the odd numbered MN regiments usually got mauled and the even numbered ones got through relatively intact--over the course of the war, that is.

8. Yes - 1st Minnesota, at gettysburg
JVS and my great-great grandfather was in teh First Minnesota - we still have his brass shamrock regimental pin. pretty sweet.

Good looking out on the minnesota civil war history!
