What those evil ones and that poster seem to forget or don't care to know is that he was a person with feelings, a very sensitive human being. What they did broke his heart - broke my heart - I couldn't do a damn thing to stop them, nothing I did could convince them. :cry:

They keep fighting with each other. The mother cat nips them when they get too rowdy. Good mama cat! :)

Those photos you posted in the hurricane thread in LBN....they freaked me out! :scared:

I'm closer to the coast than you are, and this is a cat4 hurricane. I went to the store and bought much ice, water, and other necessities tonight. After seeing your photos, I realized that it is money well spent.

That's the other cat walking person -- Loren -- with the Maine Coon cats etc.

Yes I saw those photos -- reminds me of one of the huge wind storms we had here in Washington State -- all the trees along an 8 miles road were blown down. The winds were clocked at somewhere around 80 mph.

It took all the pick-up trucks and chain saws in the area to clear the road.

I drove through Florida in May -- and in areas many of the homes still have blue tarps on their roofs -- from LAST season.

I'm hoping that all you have is stress from worrying -- and not trees being blown over. I can remember the sound of trees falling in the woods and then the next morning seeing them criss crossed on the forrest floor. No large trees were close to our house -- that year.

So I know how you feel -- find a safe place and try to get some sleep.

I have lots of meds. I have several herniated disks in my lower spine.

But flexoril knocks me out for 12 hours. I had to get some stuff done and knew I didn't have 12 hours to spare.

18. Animals can sense a change in the weather.

Once, we had a pretty significant earthquake for this region of the country (NorthEast). I was just getting into bed when my little Cairn Terrier suddenly came right up next to me, visibly shaking. It didn't happen immediately, but it came. The whole house shook! Then I freaked! I grabbed him and ran and stood in the closet, LOL! He knew what was coming! Listen to your animals! And please look after yourself!

Yes, I think they can sense weather changes. I really wish I would have visited the vet today to get some "doggy downers" for Lucinda. She tends to become very nervous even during a normal rain storm.

26. Yep...they may be able to feel the change (nothing mystical, necessarily,

just being more sensitive to pressure changes) or they can sense your concern. Either way, they're tuned in. There's definitely a different feel in the air that accompanies the coming of a big hurricane (and being in the eye is REALLY weird) so perhaps no surprise if they're more attuned to it than we are. At least you're not alone!
