Blueberry-Banana Bread
That's what my wife just pulled out of the oven; and that's what I'll be pigging out on soon. She's is fantastic in every room in the house.

1. can I have a slice?
I can't wait until the time comes for fresh pumpkin bread. Put a little strawberry cream cheese on it and you are all set:).

2. Now there's an idea
I haven't made blueberry banana bread in years, and the local blueberries in season. Just need a few bananas and I'm good to go!

4. Yum.
Can you ask her if she will share the recipe?

There are some overripe bananas sitting on my mom's kitchen counter, and we were just discussing what to do with them.

5. You might also make Banana Ice Cream with them.
BANANA ICE CREAM

4 ripe bananas, peeled, mashed (or pureed in food processor)
1 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk
3/4 cup whipping cream

Combine bananas and condensed milk in large bowl. Whisk in cream. Pour banana mixture into 8 x 8 x 2-inch glass baking dish. Cover and freeze until softly set, stirring occasionally, about 2 hours. Transfer to large bowl. Using electric mixer, beat ice cream just until fluffy. Return to same glass dish. Cover and freeze until firm, about 6 hours. (Can be made 3 days ahead. Keep frozen.)

Or if you have an ice cream maker (electric or hand cranked) pulse all the ingredients in the food processor, pour into the ice cream maker and process.

8. Our Pleasure
2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 medium ripe bananas mashed
1 cup fresh blueberries

in a bowl, combine the flour, baking soda and salt. In a large mixing bowl, cream the shortening and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla, mix well. Beat in bananas. gradually add the dry ingredients, beat just until combined. Fold in blueberries
Pour into greased 5-3/4in by 3in by 2in loaf pans. Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks. (This made two loaves for us). Enjoy. A pretty good use for old bananas for sure.

6. I don't believe I've ever heard of those two particular fruits
being combined in anything!

I love 'em both, but I've never heard of Blueberry-Banana Bread. Is your wife considering sharing the recipe?

12. Not Yet!
We got about 12 hours to go. Just started to get windy here. I hope we are far enough west to not get too much nonsense from mother nature. A big positive thought heading to Pensacola and Mobile
