I didn't see it anywhere here today, it just popped into my head, and I wanted to share it with you.

"shitstorm". Brilliant word.

"Arwalden's anti-astrology thread provoked a shitstorm of righteous flames"

"Jon Bovi's beheading generated a shitstorm of applause and heartfelt thanks to God Almighty and a shitstorm of new applications to seminary and the religious orders"

"Man, GD is a positive shitstorm of shitstorms".

1. If you love the word shitstorm...
the you would love the book titled "The Day My Butt Went Psycho"

It's full of 5th grade humor and there really is a shitstorm out in the methane desert.

2. "Dumbass" is the word that does it for me.
Have you seen the commercial where the guy is interviewing for a job and he keeps calling his potential employer "Mr.Dumbass"? It turns out that he was mispronouncing the guy's name. Mr.Dumass.

3. Idle thought: "shit" and "storm" can be used as verbs ...
... so why is the compound "shitstorm" used exclusively as a noun?

7. That's my fave - the first time I heard it I thought I MIS-heard it...
Edited on Mon Jul-11-05 03:58 PM by Richardo
...it was in a professional context. "A cluster WHAT??" It was so appropriate to the context that it became one of my favorites. I use it sparingly to maintain its freshness.

10. "I want in"
Not if you're playing pool you don't. I usually hear and use the word clusterfuck when playing pool. You know, when a bunch of balls are all clustered together and you can't find a decent shot.

6. It's a better thought than an experience.
Makes me think about that god awful thing that happened with Dave Matthews bus last summer. I think it was in Chicago. Matthews by the by, is a total environmentalist. Unwittingly the bus malfunctioned and dumped a load of excrement on some poor woman's birthday party. The bus was on a bridge when this happened. The bridge had a grate. The nice woman was celebrating her birthday on a boat underneath, Worst birthday story ever The poor dear.

Now, that was a most unpleasant and most literal "shitstorm".

Ughhhhhh.

I'm ashamed but it's hard for me to listen to dave Matthews without that association. Now I've gone and wrecked it for others. Didn't intend to. Just my only defense against you glorifying "shitstorms." That poor woman. Shitstorms can only suck.
