http://benquirer.blogspot.com/EYE OF THE STORM, Dennis -- Hurricane Dennis retired in shame today after doing relatively little damage in the wake of a media blitz that bordered on psychotic by the U.S. national media.
Dennis, who was bestowed with the ominous "Category 3" title after it pounded the shores of such Caribbean locales as Jamaica and Cuba, sputtered and failed as it crossed the south Florida coast and was demoted immediately to a "tropical depression" by meteorologists.
"Dennis was a letdown," said chief NOAA meteorologist Kent Guileman. "As a result of its ineptitude, we ask the media to now refer to this wuss of a weather pattern as 'Tropical Depression Denise' since it is obvious to us that it is now the girly man of climate conditions in the area."
"In a day where daily bombings in Iraq and terrorist attacks on allies simply aren't enough to satiate or interest the populace, the people are going to demand more from their weather. Hurricanes, tornadoes and even shark attacks need to be covered even more in-depth to satisfy the masses, so unfortunately this 'sustained winds envy' is going to plague hurricanes for some time to come," Winde warned.
