Loungers, I am looking at you: Workers waste more than two hours a day
ST. LOUIS -- If you're on the job, and you're reading this story, you should probably get back to work. The average worker wastes more than two hours a day, and that's not including lunch, according to a new Web survey by America Online and Salary.com. That means companies spend as much as $759 billion on salaries annually for which they receive no apparent benefit, the research found.

The America Online and Salary.com survey found the workers' top excuses for wasting time nationwide were not enough work or inadequate for the work they do.

About 10,000 people responded to the poll.

More than 44 percent said the No. 1 way they waste time at work is personal Internet use, like reading e-mail, instant messages, playing interactive games -- and responding to online polls.

4. The French are to blame for this outrageous waste of time.....
Edited on Tue Jul-12-05 09:31 AM by KzooDem
Those haughty cheese-eating surrender monkeys only have to work thirty-some-odd hours a week. AND, they get 4 weeks off. They have been waving this in our faces for a long time and NOW look what has happened! Our fine American work force is rebelling. The calamity of it all.

>End of sarcasm<

Frankly, I don't give a damn. You overwork people, under pay them, shit on them, get rid of them at will, what does corporate America THINK workers are going to do. Sounds to me like they want some of their time BACK. Workes unite and raise your mice in salute!

5. Actually I plan on wasting more than two hours today, but
sometimes I just get caught up in a work thing and cannot seem to stop. Fortunately this doesn't happen too often, and I am able to make up the time by wasting more than two hours some days.

7. I don't buy the b.s. that every second has to be productive
It goes hand in hand with the fallacies that companies stock value should go up every quarter, and that no American company can afford to lose even just one penny. Just ain't gonna happen.

11. Take THAT, corporations!
That's for lobbying for reduced employee benefits, no wage hikes, sending high-paying manufacturing jobs overseas, turning the entire workforce into hamburger flippers, mandatory meetings with no mandatory pay for them, rearranging your staffs six ways from Sunday so no one can get overtime....on and on and on. If YOU lose money for a change, should your underpaid, underappreciated, exhausted, demoralized, harrassed and intimidated workers shed any tears for you?

Fuck no!

Eat shit and die, corporations!

We'll take a breather when we NEED one. Just deal with it.
