When did "God Bless America" become the new 7th Inning stretch song?
What's next...the "Our Father" and a couple "Hail Marys"?

Man I like "Take me out to the Ballgame"

4. Really?
It seems more recent to me. Even the minor league team I have season tickets to has started it the last couple games (Potomac Nationals).

Washington Nationals have done it all along!

10. I think it was done after 9/11
And then made permanent after we started our "Global War on Terror" in Iraq.

Since the "Global War on Terror" will likely never end, I suspect we're stuck with GBA forever.

we already sing the star spangled banner. Every time I hear that Irish Tenor sing it during a Yankees game I just want to :puke:

I'm a baseball purist
No Interleague
No DH
and god dammit I want "Take me out to the ballgame!"

I used to get annoyed by that, back when there were Bruins-Flyers series. I bet you can guess which one was my team. :-)

6. Passing out flags after 9/11 wasn't enough
So they began sining God Bless America.

Most teams sing both God bless America and Take me out to the Ballgame.

I've never been to game where they did GBA. I think they only do it for big games like the AS games and the WS.

You don't worry about songs when your best buddy, who wants to smoke was awarded two silver stars and a bronze in that nasty jungle.

I think the crowd would be a tad put off by that.

25. God bless my ass
I cannot stand that song at a baseball game. What's next, GBA in the 7th, "Jesus Christ Superstar" in the 8th, two "Ave Marias" in the 9th and a couple "Hail Marys" when the closers enter the game? How the hell are we supposed to raise the kids in an atheist-friendly environment when a sporting game turns into the old time gospel hour? Baseball sucks!

29. Not only GBA, but It must be tough to raise kids in
in an atheist-friendly environment at any sporting event what with 98% of the athletes making the sign of the cross before a play and pointing to heaven after a successful outcome and then thanking Jesus or God after every winning outcome.

instituted the playing of GBA last year (they had always done "Take Me Out to the Ballgame"). The PA announcer requests that everyone stand for GBA. F that shit.
