$56,000 robbery at bank drive-thru

Even bank robbers appreciate a drive-through window.

Police say a man drove up to a LaSalle bank at 3301 N. Ashland about 8 a.m. Tuesday and slid a note demanding money to the teller through a tube at the window.

The teller complied, shooting back about $56,000, Belmont District police said. The robber sped off in a blue, older-model minivan, they said.

"No weapon was displayed or implied," said Chicago FBI spokeswoman Cynthia Yates. "He never left his vehicle."

How can that happen?

1. tellers are trained to comply with robbers...

you could walk up to a bank teller and say "Give me money" and they probably would. You would, however be guitly of bank robbery.

My Mother-in-law is a bank branch manager and believe me they don't get paid enough to risk ANYTHING when someone wants to rob them.

Why not just drop to the floor and hit the alarm? I don't get it.

with a note to "point this at yourself, and give me all your money"
