I've also seen Division 1-A football from the sidelines. They're faster, bigger, and the hits are a lot harder than you'd imagine.

When I played I was 6', 235, and I laid some folks out, too.

I've also seen players from the ground level who were faster than I and were 6'4" or 6'5", and weighed in the neighborhood of 280-290 pounds.

It's easy to look at the television or down at the field and think they're not all that fast or don't hit all that hard. If you ever get the chance to be on the ground level at an SEC or Big 12 game, you will understand that what you're seeing on TV is an illusion. It's a matter of scale. Some players look like they might be slow. Place them in a different context and they're universally so fast for their size that it's hard to believe. And considering that force = mass x acceleration, these guys who are just as fast and a lot bigger consquently hit a lot harder.

I'm just telling you - I'm a good athlete (even at my age), I move a lot more quickly than people would suspect, and I'd get killed - perhaps literally - on a Div 1-A field.

I am a Georgia Bulldog fan. In the recent past (last 25 years), we've played a number of teams from Texas - Baylor twice, Houston once, Texas once, Texas Tech twice, Texas A&M once, and TCU twice. The DAWGS are 9-0, with an average score of 29-11.

Don't mess with Texas? We don't bother messing - we just kick your ass. :D
