For all poker nuts here.
Last year Greg Raymer bested a field of almost 3,000 to win $5 million at the main event of the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.
This year there were 5,619 entrants with a first prize of $7.5 million. The field has worked its way down to 27 as action moves from the Rio to the Horeshoe.
Greg Raymer sits in 5 chip position with $3.84 million chips.
Standing in Raymer way to repeat is chip leader Mike "the mouth" Matusow with $5.14 million chips and Phil Ivey (often referred as the Tiger Woods of poker) has $4.635 million chips.
No woman has ever made the final table (last 9 player) however Tiffany Williamsen could change that as she sits in 19th chip position with $1.125 million chips.
Poker ledgeds Doyle Brunson and Johnny Chan are the only two players to win back to back WSOP main events titles but against much smaller fields.
If Raymer should repeat it may well be viewed as the greatest accomplishment in WSOP history.
