I met the Indigo Girls last night...
very briefly, but still got to meet one of my favorite bands, one that I really identify my early twenties with...

I was having dinner in Napa last night, pretty late, and the waiter mentions that they had just played at the Opera House across the street and there was a rumor that they were going to a bar down the street afterwards...

I was instantly skeptical, as Napa is a very small town, and the Opera House is a very small venue, but sure enough, there was a tour bus and a roadie crew loading a trailer! I grabbed a menu and strolled the half block, waited with the groupies and got autographs about thirty minutes later! they were both very gracious and took pictures. I didn't have my camera, of course, but a very nice woman took my email addy and a pic, said she'd send it to me later today. :-) Hope that works out, but I'll live if it doesn't. If I could get my scanner to work, I'd show you the menu! I'll try and take a pic of it and see if that works.

turns out they didn't hit the bar, but I wouldn't have gone that far, I'd not want to be bothered that much after playing a gig and all. I was just pissed that I camethisclose to going to the concert! 500 seat venue!! OMG! There was a nice couple from SF that had an extra ticket that went to waste! ARGH! If only I had known!

1. I listened to their first album
While delivering a yacht from BC to Tahiti... over, and over... and then over again.

I love it.

Still to this day - I have sea and sky associated with their harmonies.

5. what an awesome memory!
can I deliver yachts with you? DH and I are fast learners, and can I bring my dog? she has her own lifevest...

My best memory of their music is driving around San Antonio with my bf, singing badly at the top of our lungs, and finally feeling like I was becoming who I wanted to be.

2. Awesome! I'd love to meet them.
I've met some of my rock'n'roll idols over the years, and it's usually a positive experience.

Maybe because I like "good" bands.

The one major disappointment was Ian McCullough of Echo & The Bunnymen. He was drunk off his ass, had a groupie wrapped around his arm and announced to all of us, "I'm going to go have sex with someone I don't know!"

But I'm still glad I got to shake his hand. Even if it was as cold as ice.

7. If I could be so lucky!
I have the concert cd, that's as close as I've come to hearing it (aside from being a half block away last night!)

'thanks y'all!' LOVE THEM!

10. Saw them at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland, Oregon two years ago
I wasn't really a fan at all before hearing them. I had heard them, of course, but my Wife was the fan. I have to admit, it was one of the best shows that I saw that whole year.

15. I saw them last month at the annual Hudson River Revival
at Croton Point Park, New York. They were the main reason (plus the superb weather!) that the festival had its best gate in years.

Before that, the other time I saw them in person was in 1990 (or was it 1989?) They were on the bill at the Newport Folk Festival, which was just being revived and mostly sponsored by Ben & Jerry's.
