Kitty Dilemma Question
I have a 5 year old female cat. I saved her when she was 2 weeks old. She was the only cat in the house for 3 years and got another cat, that is when the trouble began. She started peeing on walls and going poop in specific places in the house. Advance 2 more years. More animals have come into the house and now she has become very hostile. I cannot even love on her anymore. Hubby and I are afraid to have her around a little one. (we are trying to get pregnant once again, had a miscarriage a month and a half ago) She attacks, growls, hisses at anyone who passes on by. Our dilemma is we are going to take her to the pound or non-kill shelter. How can I be certain that she can go to a home to where she is an only animal to prevent this from happening again? I am at a loss here.

Her name is Martie. If anyone in the 4 corners region wants her, please PM me.

1. First, let me start with
I'm so sorry about the miscarriage for that you get a  and a

Second, it's a shame she has to go, she's such a pretty girl.

Finally - any shelter worth its kibble will put specific disclaimers on animals that have to be only pets. You'll see that quite often on Petfinder listings. They evaluate all animals before they adopt them out, and adopt them out based on factors like this.

2. Have you taken her to the vet??

I've heard that cats don't usually pee or poop outside of their box unless there is a medical problem. They don't do that to make us mad....maybe there is something physically wrong?? Or maybe she just needs a more quiet environment..maybe the other animals make her nervous and scared and thats why she hisses??

I'm so sorry to hear about your miscarriage..too.

3. She is fine
no UTI or anything like that. She was isolated for a week at my house next door and she did fine. However when we brought her back into the setting of our home life, she reverted. We have now 4 other cats (homegrown so to speak) and one dog and 4 puppies (the puppies are being hand fed since the mama took off on us over the 4th and has not come back :( ) We have tried everything with her. With the isolation, my husband, my daughter, and I would all go over and love on her and she seemed to be like herself, however once around the others, she goes spastic. She get's worse with every other little thing that comes into our lives. The kittens were one thing. She got used to the first two, however with the second two, she just cannot grasp the concept that they are here to stay. With us trying to have a baby, just cannot have that around a newborn. It is just too much of a safety issue.
Thank you for the  I really appreciate that. We will not give up on that!

4. pam johnson-bennett is a feline behaviorist.
maybe you could browse a bookstore and see if she covers a situation close to this in one of her books. i purchased two of her books to try to find out what is the malfunction with abbie but none of her situations really match him. he is just an ass.

i am very sorry for your recent loss. i hope your animals (besides martie) are a comfort.
