marvelous atheletes wear next to nothing. i mean.. c'mon! if there were a strategical advantage to wearing these thong type swim suits to play volleyball in, then why aren't the male players wearing speedos?? i'm thinking it must be peer pressure.. or it's for marketing purposes to get t.v. time.

"showing it off", but they're atheletes playing a sport. Instead, it looks more like a strip tease.

it just rubs me the wrong way. it kind of reminds me of that movie "A league of their own" where the female baseball players were encouraged to try to cutsie things up and be all girlie to attract the crowds instead of focusing on being good baseball players. moral of the story: men won't watch women's sports unless they can see some t & a = no respect for women athletes AS ATHLETES.

again, why aren't the men playing v-ball in thongs or speedos? because heterosexual men don't want to look at het men in speedos. and it's all about what the men want to look at.

I don't know what beach you go to, but check out the Jersey Shore sometime. You don't see thongs, but it's pretty damn close.

the same thing happens in indoor volleyball, you'll notice, women wear tight shorts, men wear loose shorts. Hell, when I played indoor volleyball, I wore loose shorts, even with a jock-strap, the twins tend to bounce around and get constricted in tight shorts. You counce around a lot in volleyball. Girls, as I'm sure you've noticed :) don't have that problem. (yes, they have the boob problem)

41. Men do often wear tight bathing suits... And Beach Volleyball is a sport.

The clothing should be designed to be the most appropriate for the sport, for movement, etc. It makes no sense at all that the standards of movement would be different between men and women. I'm much more comfortable in looser fitting clothes when I play sports.

who knows? Of course there is some sexism involved, who doesn't like looking at athletic girls in bikinis? what's more appropriate for the beach than a bikini? I'm having difficulty feeling sorry for these women, I gotta admit.
