Ghosts.
Do you believe in them?

Share your favourite stories and pictures.

My cousin was told by my grandmother that our family shouldn't argue and quarrel so much about her funeral. Oh by the way, she had been dead for almost a week at the time.

Here's my favourite picture:

The Raynham Hall ghost, also known as The Brown Lady. Probably one of the more famous ghostpictures, probably because no expert has been able to debunk it as being fake or manufactured in some way.

My favourite :)

PS: Please reccomend to keep this thread alive. No pun intended ;)

1. A ghost cleverly disguised as a red X. Who can argue with that?

20. Works there. Though frankly
I can't see why any expert would bother debunking it. Not very ghosty-looking. More dirty lense- or glare-looking.

2. My sister
was taking pictures at a revolutionary era church and graveyard. A picture of the inside of the church revealed the back of a young girl's head with ribbons seated in one of the pews.

6. Not on the internet, sadly.
It's really creepy though, even my skeptic mother thinks it's interesting.

33. Not fireflies. There are very few fireflies in this part of the country.
They are called "orbs" although some call them "spirit balls".

Here's a better photo of them. Check out the one behind the lamp just above the man's head on the left. It is bigger than the others in the photo.

Another one here is seen just inside the fence.

And just inside the city gates. If there were that many fireflies around, I doubt that those children would have been so intent on the tour guide...

There have been quite a few similar photos submitted by different people from all over the country.

8. Alas
Lack of being able to debunk something does not equal that it's real. The onus is on the believers to prove this ghost exists - not for skeptics to prove it does not - and a photograph isn't proof enough. It's quite possible there was no tampering, and it's a simple light effect.

I can't prove Santa Claus doesn't exist. It's very hard/impossible to prove a negative. However, if someone were to bring forth a fat, bearded man surrounded by eleves in a sleigh pulled by flying reindeer then there's the proof.

11. I couldn't agree with you more, BUT

Ghost pictures are usually extremely easy to debunk so when one like this has all experts baffled turns up, it's very unusual.

Anyway, that's not the point. Maybe it's all make-believe, but why not let it? It's all about the stories and the wonderful tinkly feeling at the back of your neck anyway. It's about stories around the campfire, not scientific evaluation and statistics.

16. I believe the opposite
I think that with the amount of evidence and also personal experiences with metaphysics that is out there, it is the positive and the non-believers have the burden of proof to show the believers that they are wrong.
The documentation of "ghosts" have been around much longer than "science" and science was basically started to disprove the existence of things that weren't understood, but were believed in. Science has yet to prove that there are no such things as spirits, ghosts, an afterlife or anything like that.
In my experiences, I have witnessed things that people are skeptical about, but I feel no need to prove anything to anyone. But if someone says I am wrong, I want them to prove to me I am wrong. By simply stating "I don't believe you", I don't believe that to be proof I am wrong in what I experience.

10. When I first got my license
every few times I would be out driving at night I would glance in my rearview mirror and see a silouette of a humanlike shape. Then I would look again and it would be gone. It happened about 10 times or so, then never again. I can't say it was a ghost, but who knows

:scared: I probably would have crashed!

It was on the side of the road. It looked like a man just standing there watching my car. I never actually saw it directly but only through the rear view mirror.

12. My son's apartment
He just moved to a new one but at his old apartment a kid had been killed by some drug dealers the year before. Weird things kept happening. Strange sounds coming from the stereo speakers when the stereo was off. A video they shot showed what looked like a pool of blood in the living room.

Most hauntings can easily be explained by natural phenomena (low frequency sound and such; I can get you links and stuff if you're interested).

I've always been interested in ghost stories and stuff though. Love that shit.

Now the ghosts in Silent Hill 4, those things are goddamn relelntless. Quite frustrating when your health is almost gone and you have three ghosts chasing you.

34. What Energy Are You Talking About?
Edited on Fri Jul-15-05 02:49 PM by arwalden
You'll have a difficult time in convincing me that any energy is "encapusulated" in anyone's body. In order to answer your question one must assume your "facts" which are not yet proved. First things first. Describe for me what TYPE of "encapsulated energy" you're talking about, then show me where it's "encapsulated"... and if I'm convinced, then perhaps we can figure out where it "goes".
