Edited on Fri Jul-15-05 05:31 PM by henslee
thanks to liquid viagra therapy to send more blood from her heart to her lungs. It is a very new thearapy with hardly any case histories to go by. She is new improved and feisty but we don't know how long it will last. She has been out of the vet for a week and now takes 3 ml 2x a day. I'm going to wait about 2 months to contact the first vet and send him some pictures.

2. Aww! How old is she?
What was the problem before?

Such good news. Thanks for not giving up. Dogs are the BEST.

3. She is 14 and had respiratory problems typical for the breed. She
was diagnosed with canine pulmonary hypertension which was not letting blood get to her heart. She was in an oxygen kennel for a week and her oxygen levels ha d dropped to the forties when they put her under to examine her upper resipriatory system. I really hope folks to question their vet if they have doubts. Dog are the best. Also, knowing you did everything for your pooch probably makes letting go easier.

5. Thanks Joan. I felt silly posting about this so much but I just wanted
to get the point across that doctors/vets are not God -- that they screw up and make the wrong call and should not always be listened to.

6. it's not silly at all ... doctors & vets do make mistakes
One of my doctors misdiagnosed a health problem of mine ... he did the best he was capable of but had he acted correctly and prescribed the correct treatment within 72 hours I would have had a 70% chance for full recovery ... now 3 1/2 years later - I'm still trying to return my life to normal, adjusting to an occasional loss of vision in one eye ... it makes posting on the web so much more challenging because I don't always see clearly, shopping can be a joke at times, driving at night was never a problem until now ... however ... all things considered  it could be worse because it was.

7. To have vision come and go must bve nerve racking. If a
probelm is "consant", it seems no matter how bad it is, one would be able to adjust to it. Not to exchange horror stories but I ws reunited with an old friend I hadn't seen in years and she was in an accident and two broken legs, only the doctors missed the second break and didn't figure it out until nine months later. Its been two years and she is still dealing with it, pill, pins, discomfort. Whew. There is nothing like a good doctor.

8. I'm sorry for your friends discomfort.
I rarely talk about my problems because to me they do seem pale by comparison to what others are going through and most DUers (with the exception of the ones I've met) didn't know until this post why I'm so serious at times.
